Madeline Deneys is an Australian photographer and writer based in Melbourne.
My work is observant and intuitive. I’m drawn to emotive scenes, human connection and details that might otherwise go unnoticed.My approach to composition and storytelling has been shaped by more than a decade of experience as a graphic designer across branding and editorial. Working between film and digital, my subjects range from portraits and artists to hotels, interiors, fashion and travel.
Travel is a recurring thread throughout my work and life. I frequently return to Japan, and am most inspired when travelling slowly – wandering, observing everyday life and following the encounters that unfold along the way.
Photography and writing are ways I make sense of a place. I bring the two together in my newsletter, An Ode to Somewhere – essays on travel, personal reflections and photographic observations.
